Advocacy

A voice for members' interests

Chamber members know that the Chamber has their back.  We go to bat for our businesses, representing their interests not only on the local level, but at the county and state levels as well.  How to help generate good jobs and support smart growth?  These are the kinds of policy issues that the Chamber regularly addresses.

An ear for members' concerns

We can’t always take sides, nor would you want us to. But we can be the place where we listen to both—or all—sides together. That’s why, for example, the Chamber will host candidates’ forums for local elections, bringing together all the candidates for your questions. The Chamber is the place where members can engage in productive conversation. You can contact our advocacy team at advocacy@delraybeach.com

A connector to the policy makers

Despite our digital era, face-to-face still has a place, especially when it comes to meeting and getting to know the leading influencers in our community. Our Government Affairs meetings facilitate and foster these connections, and also bring in key speakers to address topics affecting the community.

A conduit for action

When it’s right for the Chamber to take a position on an issue, we step up, reaching out to both the business community and the news media. The Chamber’s Board of Directors provides final review and approval on all direct advocacy matters.

How to be part of advocacy

Come to the Government Affairs meetings, which are typically 8-9am the third Friday each month (check the calendar for details).

Keep on top of the topics through our On the Record electronic newsletter. Look for it in your e-mailbox the second and fourth Friday of the month.
